IML Trip, Day 2

Day two, Tuesday, started off slow.  As I always am on these trips, I was too excited to sleep in, so I was up at a pretty decent hour.  I spent the morning relaxing with a cup of coffee while goofing around on my iPad.  Eventually, Tynanfox rose and we began to discuss our plans for the day, which centered around the arrival of my good friend Flyboyfl.

Tynanfox and I both felt like being active, so he had the great idea of taking a walk around Lake Calhoun.  This was a new experience for me in Minneapolis, as I had never spent any time in any of the number of parks that the beautiful city has to offer.  Tynanfox couldn’t have chosen a better place to spend the morning at.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous and park was abuzz with joggers, walkers, bikers, and people enjoying the sun and water with friends and family.  The visual was not far off from that of a stereotypical city park environment.  It was perfect.

After our walk around the lake, we were only a few minutes from a local favorite coffee shop, so a refreshing iced coffee was in order.  By the time all of this was done, it was nearly time to head to the airport to pick up Flyboyfl.  After a somewhat lengthy wait in the cell phone lot, we picked him up and headed back to our host’s home.  Our host was home early from work, so we all hung out for a while.

Later that evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, we took walk down to the river to check out the lock and it’s surrounding area.  It was a great way to finish off a great day.  We had one more full day in Minneapolis before we hit the road for Chicago!
