IML Trip, Day 1

IML is over, and as I write this, I am currently back in Minneapolis for a couple days before I head back to the sunshine state. After a long drive back from Chicago, we had an afternoon and evening to just crash and try to recover from the events of the previous weekend. This is as good a time as any to begin my day-by-day coverage of my experiences at IML and the days prior to, and following it. In addition to my experiences, I also plan to write about a number of things that I have learned, recognized, and realized while on this trip.

Before I begin to write about day one, let me just say this: Thursday, May 24 2012 through Sunday, May 28 2012, are the four best days of my entire life to date. Hands down. No argument. Period. The experiences I had, the friends I made, the people I met, and the things I learned about the community and myself combined to make an experience that I can imagine only another IML could top. This trip was life changing for me, as you will learn over the following posts regarding it. One last thing before I begin. I want to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone who was there that made this weekend such an amazing time. Without you guys, I would not have even been there. So thank you all so much!

Now… Day 1:

My flight landed in Minneapolis at 3:30 where I was promptly picked up by my great friend and ever gracious host mplsguy. We proceeded to his home where we relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company while we waited for another great friend, Tynan, to arrive. By the time he got there, we were all ready for dinner, so that was the next step towards completing our day. During dinner, we increased the size of our party by adding yet another great friend, Puptrigger. After dinner, Tynanfox, Puptrigger, and I went out to a little gay bar for a couple drinks. After our drinks, Puptrigger parted ways with us as he had to work the next morning. Thus concludes the first day. I know, it’s nothing special to you, which is pretty much because this was mostly a “travel and get settled” day, but the day was special to me for my own reasons. There’s more coming soon. Don’t worry, this is just the first of 8 days.  :)
